Peter Kalaš, Chairman of the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development, and Tomáš Janeba, President of ARI, invited Jonathan Wootliff, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Advisor and former Communications Director of GREENPEACE International, to explain how the Czech Republic can contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, where he sees future champions, risks and opportunities.
Jonathan also introduced the project RETHINK, a business platform for companies in the Czech Republic to collaborate to proactively grasp the opportunities and address the risks of the green transition and the 2050 carbon neutrality target, led by CEOs of leading companies and entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic. This business platform is intended to act as a catalyst for a sustainable, resilient and socially responsive economic recovery in the Czech Republic using digital technologies from autumn 2021. Jonathan Wootliff
Jonathan advises companies on sustainability issues with a focus on helping them build bridges with NGOs as well as designing and implementing strategies for ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance Standards Solutions) and CSR (Corporate, Social and Responsible Business) programs.
As former Communications Director at GREENPEACE International, based in Amsterdam, Jonathan oversaw the organisation’s activities in over 35 countries. His responsibilities included managing Greenpeace’s communications activities at the 1997 UN Climate Change Ministerial Summit in Kyoto. Since then, he has attended all subsequent UN climate change conferences.
Jonathan is a long-time resident of Prague and is Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development (CBCSD). He is also active in other parts of Europe, as well as in the USA and Asia.
Jonathan is currently leading the project RETHINK, an initiative of large companies in the Czech Republic led by CEOs who are working together to build a sustainable post-pandemic economic recovery in the country and inspire strong, resilient, adaptable and socially responsible business.
