Cities and municipalities can join the successful Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans initiative and thereby make a voluntary commitment to reduce CO2 emissions.
With more than half of greenhouse gas emissions generated in cities, local authorities have a key role to play in achieving the EU’s energy and climate goals and are key actors in implementing local sustainable energy policies. The Covenant of Mayors is the largest movement in the world dedicated to local climate and energy action. The aim of this initiative is to convene local authorities to voluntarily commit to implementing sustainability policies in their territory.
